- Active Directory Connectors (ADC)
By Default, a new exchange 2000 organization runs in mixed mode, which provides support to older exchange servers (5.5). Exchange 2000 and later versions of exchange are integrated with AD. Versions of exchange prior to 2000, maintain a separate directory. ADC is a program that enables you to synchronize configuration and recipient data between an exchange directory and AD. For each ADC, one or more connection agreements are created. The connection agreement specifies the end-point servers for replication and establishes a correspondence between source and destination computer.
Upgrade the ADC to 2003 before installing Exchange 2003
- Mailbox retention
The default mailbox retention period for all mailbox stores is 30 days. When a user account is deleted in AD users and computers, the associated mailbox is marked for deletion, but it will be retained in the mailbox store for the duration of the mailbox retention period.
When a user account is being deleted, you are prompted to specify whether the associated mailbox should also be deleted. The mailbox appears in a text box, and the check box is automatically checked. You cannot clear that check box.
- Recovery Storage Group
RSG = new feature of exchange server 2003
Intended to facilitate the recovery of a deleted mailbox store data.
By default, the RSG and all mailbox stores that are added to it are placed in the' /program files/Exchsrvr/Recovery Storage Group' folder.
- EVS/Outlook
Users should specify the name of the EVS (Exchange Virtual Server) in a cluster group when configuring outlook
